Sorenson Foundation's Impact Grant Program is Open
Deploying catalytic and philanthropic capital to organizations, researchers, and entrepreneurs around the world
The Sorenson Impact Foundation opens its calls for proposals only once a year, and this year the open call is for organizations, researchers, and entrepreneurs around the world that are working in these two focus areas:
➡️ Responsible AI & the Digital Future
➡️ The Ownership Economy & Economic Empowerment
What’s unique about this particular call, is that Sorenson is making available catalytic capital (ie impact capital tied likely to debt) as well as philanthropic capital. Seeing a funding mechanism that combines both of these funding types is quite rare. It’s also a rare open call from Sorenson, so worth paying attention to.
Sorenson goes to indicate that this funding will support “innovative solutions that harness emerging technologies and ownership structures to create a more equitable economic landscape.”
The deadline for proposals is July 31.
Other Funding Opportunities
The European Commission has released a new call for proposals for “The GenAI4EU HUB”, which aims to build a vibrant European GenAI ecosystem by fostering collaboration, visibility, and innovation across strategic sectors. This initiative supports the European Commission's AI Office in creating a trustworthy AI ecosystem that maximizes societal and economic benefits.
Support for nonprofit organizations examining ways to transition into more “impact” style of operations — The Driving Innovative Finance for Impact program helps organizations work on a “real-world, high-impact challenge and gain the critical tools, frameworks, and skills to shape and implement innovative finance solutions that drive meaningful change for vulnerable communities.”
A reminder that for paying subscribers ($12/month), you can use the Chat function to share ideas on this and other posts with me and other subscribers, and participate in the next Ask Me Anything July 16. You also have direct access to me via Direct Message.
Thanks for sharing such impactful funding opportunity with us !!!
Thanks for sharing! I didn’t see any geographic restrictions so I assume this is for projects anywhere in the world - is that your understanding?
A colleague thought they heard this foundation was shifting to a US focus but I don’t see any indication of that on their website. I see their PRIs are global.
Thank you!
